The Mufti of the Republic confirms in an intellectual symposium at Sohag University that moderation is the true title of the Islamic religion.
Within the framework of building sound religious awareness for young people; Sohag University hosted Dr. Shawqi Allam, the Mufti of the Republic, in an intellectual symposium entitled “Moderation in Islam,” on Wednesday, the first of November 2023, in the international conference hall at the new headquarters of Sohag University in the city of Al-Kawamel, in the presence of: Bishop Bakhoum, Bishop of Sohag, Manshah, and Maragha, Dr. Mohamed Hosni, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Endowments in Sohag, Dr. Ahmed Hegazy, Head of the Al-Azhar Region in Sohag, Dr. Abdel Nasser Yassin, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, deans of the university’s faculties, faculty members and their assistants, and an elite group of Executive and popular leaders in the governorate, representatives of the Ministry of Endowments and Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and the Senate and House of Representatives in the governorate, along with a crowd of male and female university students.
In his speech at the start of the symposium: Dr. Hassan Noman, President of Sohag University, affirmed the university’s support for the position of the Egyptian state, and its alignment with the political leadership in all the actions and measures it takes, regarding the rejection of the liquidation of the Palestinian issue, or any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from their lands at the expense of the countries of the region.
Dr. Hassan Noman explained that the university is keen to hold such intellectual meetings, in which prominent figures and figures in various fields lecture, with the aim of broadening the horizons of the university’s youth and developing their knowledge, in order to create a generation that is aware of the challenges of the era and contributes to the renaissance of its homeland.
For his part, Bishop Bakhoum expressed his happiness to participate with Dr. Shawqi Allam in this intellectual symposium, pointing out that the Islamic religion and the Christian religion are religions of love and peace.
During his speech at the symposium: Dr. Shawqi Allam explained that the most important criterion for human understanding of religion is the criterion of moderation, as it is the true title of the Islamic religion. Calling on Muslims to stay away from ideas emanating from the nation’s enemies, which seek to create negative energy in them.
Dr. Shawqi Allam Ali stressed that Egypt will not give up a grain of sand from its blessed land and will not accept displacement, because it would be tantamount to death for the Palestinian cause, and for the mother cause of Al-Aqsa Mosque. In advance, I salute our Palestinian brothers for their steadfastness and patience in the face of the brutal violations and attacks they are exposed to on their rights and capabilities.
During the open dialogue, the symposium witnessed intense interaction, as the attendees asked many questions related to religious and social issues and the current situation in the region, to which Dr. Shawqi Allam responded. At the end of the symposium, Dr. Hassan Noman presented the Sohag University shield in appreciation to Dr. Shawqi Allam, the Mufti of the Republic.
