Important Information and Instructions for Students

Important instructions and information for nominated students for the Faculty of Arts:

Admission requirements for college departments:

1- The Arabic Language Department accepts the student who has achieved 80% or more of the Arabic language course score in the high School, and priority is given to the student with a higher score in the Arabic language.

2- The English Department accepts the student who has achieved 80% or more of the English language course score in the high school, and priority is given to the student with a higher score in the total (English + Arabic).

3- The French Department accepts the student who has achieved 80% or more of the French language course score in the high school, and priority is given to the student with a higher score in the total (French + Arabic).

4- For admission to the Department of Egyptian Antiquities or the Media, it is required to obtain 70% of the English language course.

5- The Department of Restoration accepts no more than (30) thirty students, and the scientific department in high school is preferred.

6- Other sections have no basic admission requirements, and priority will be given to the one with the highest score.

Notes:

1- The student fills out the desires form himself for all desires (16 desires), and arranges them according to his desire, under the previous conditions.

2- The student must ensure that his choices are in order before submitting them to the Student Affairs Department.

College stages

The study is divided into two stages:

The first university study stage in the arts, and the study is based on the two-semester system.

Postgraduate level in the arts.

The first stage of undergraduate study at the College of Arts qualifies those who pass it successfully to obtain a Bachelor of Arts degree.

The postgraduate stage at the College of Arts qualifies those who pass it successfully to obtain the master’s and doctoral degrees, or any of the postgraduate diplomas.

Bachelor’s stage

The following tables show the courses that the student studies in the college departments and the number of hours allocated per week for each course:

The college council determines the departments in which general affiliation is permitted.

The examination is written in all courses of each division, and the total score for each exam is 100 marks for affiliation students. As for regular students, (20) marks are allocated in each course for the year’s work, and (80) marks for the written examination.

The duration of the written exam in any courses is three hours.

The student is transferred from the division if he succeeded in all the courses or if he failed in no more than two courses from his division.

An exam is held in October for students of the fourth year in no more than two courses.

The success of the student is estimated in the courses and the General grade in the following:    

Grade Score
A- 90% or more of the total score.
B- 80% to less than 90% of the total score.
C- 65% to less than 80% of the total score.
D 50% to less than 65% of the total score.
F From 35% to less than 50% of the total score.

Students who have a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and Education in the third year of the college may be accepted in the corresponding disciplines as affiliated students in the departments. Acceptance of these categories is in accordance with the numbers determined by the College Council:

a- The general grade of the student in the bachelor’s degree should not be less than good.

B – The student is assigned to study the subjects he did not study in the first and second semesters, and he studies all the subjects of the third and fourth semesters.

C- The applicant must submit the approval of the employer in which he works.

Students who have a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and Education in the third year of the college may be accepted in the corresponding disciplines as affiliated students in the departments. Acceptance of these categories is in accordance with the numbers determined by the College Council according to the rules set by the college council.

Students who hold other university qualifications (who have not obtained a bachelor’s in Arts and Education) may be accepted into the first year as affiliated students in the departments.

College students undertake scientific trips inside the Arab Republic of Egypt for the departments in which study requires a field study. The College Council approves the departments’ proposals on the scientific trip plans at the beginning of each academic year. Some graduate students may participate in these trips, provided that they bear the full costs, benefiting from the discounts offered by group trips and from the scientific supervision of the faculty members of the college.

New or Quality Programs (Open Education):

Two programs were approved, one for open education in archeology and tourism guidance, and the other with a new education system in the translation program, and the study began from the academic year 2007/2008.

A partnership contract was signed with Minya University to accept students in the media program with the open education system, and the study will start from the academic year 2011/2012.

Three open education programs were also approved during the 2012/2013 academic year, which are:

Arabic Language and its Literature Program.

French language program for communication.

Geography and Regional Planning Program.

The study began in the Arabic language and its literature program as of the academic year 2012/2013.
