Students Union
Student unions are formed of the college’s students who are enrolled in it to obtain a bachelor’s degree and who have paid union fees. International and affiliated students who pay union fees shall have the right to practice the union’s activities without having the right to vote or be nominated.
Student unions aim to achieve the following:
1- Developing spiritual and moral values and national awareness among students, and providing them with opportunities to express their opinions.
2- Spreading a healthy university spirit among students, and strengthening the links between them, the faculty and staff members.
3- Discovering and encouraging students’ talents, abilities and skills.
4- Encouraging the formation of families and student cooperative societies, and supporting their activities.
5- Publishing and organizing sports, social, scouting, artistic and cultural activities, raising their level.
6- Organizing the benefit of the students’ energies in serving the community.
The College Student Union Council works to achieve the goals of student unions through the following committees:
- Families Committee.
- Sports Activities Committee.
- Cultural Activities Committee.
- Technical Activities Committee.
- Scouting Committee and Public Services.
- Committee on social activity and excursions.
- Scientific activity committee.
1- The Families Committee shall be concerned with the following:
Encouraging families in the college and supporting their activities.
Coordination between the activities of different families in the college.
2- The Sports Activity Committee shall be concerned with the following:
Spreading sportsmanship among students, encouraging sports talents, and working on their development.
Organizing the college’s sports activity, including the formation of sports teams, matches, competitions, parties and sports festivals.
3- The Cultural Activity Committee shall be concerned with the following:
Organizing of cultural activity that lead to familiarizing the student with the characteristics of society and the needs of its development.
Working to develop the literary and cultural energies of students.
4- The Artistic Activities Committee shall be concerned with the following:
Developing the artistic activity of students in providing the opportunity to highlight their talents and raising the level of their artistic production.
Encouraging and supporting artistic activities and hobbies of students.
5- The Scouting and Public Service Committee shall be concerned with the following:
Organizing guidance movement on sound basis in accordance with its principles.
Implementing environmental service programs approved by the college and department councils in a way that contributes to the development of society, and contributing to national public service projects required by the needs of the country.
6- The Social Activities and Trips Committee shall be concerned in the following:
Work to develop social ties between students, faculty members and employees, and spread the spirit of cooperation among them.
Organizing social and cultural camps that help students learn about the interests of the homeland.
7- The Scientific Activity Committee shall be concerned with the following:
Work to reveal students’ scientific abilities and develop their talents.
Work to develop students’ capabilities and benefit from them inside and outside the university.
Each of the previous committees is formed annually, under the leadership of a pioneer from the faculty members, whose appointment by a decision from the dean of the college and the membership of two students.
Students elect members to each committee, including a secretary and an assistant secretary.
The committee meetings are attended by a representative of the technical staff for youth Care in the college or institute.
The College Student Union Council shall be concerned with the following:
* Drawing up the policy of the College’s Students’ Union in the light of the programs offered by the committees.
* Approving the work programs of the various committees of the Union Council and following up their implementation.
* Distributing financial appropriation to the committees and setting the annual budget for the Council and its committees.
* Approving the final accounts of the Union.
* Coordination of work between the various committees of the college or institute union council.
* Working on strengthening relationships with other student unions in the university’s colleges and institutes.
* Electing a Secretary and Assistant Secretary for the Union Council.
