The rapid development in the field of information and communication technology has put higher education institutions in front of a great challenge to take advantage of the many possibilities and opportunities, which was reflected in the visions and goals of these institutions towards building different types of e-learning, and providing part of the curriculum Online training within electronic platforms. It has become essential that academics, administrators and students at the university get adequate training and skills to deal with these new technologies.

The establishment of a unit of work at the faculty of Arts (following up on the files of staff members, employees and student data until graduation) in order to obtain the required information to follow the work in the college.

In cooperation with the university, the college has been connected to the Egyptian university network (the Supreme Council of Universities, the MIS project, and the digital library) to provide research and modern scientific publications.

The Vision

The Information Technology Unit at the Faculty of Arts, Sohag University, seeks to keep pace with scientific developments and elevate the faculty’s staff to achieve individuation.

The Mission

Providing practical and updating services to all users of information technology by technological support in addition to continuous training and working to spread the culture of technological empowerment for the college community (faculty members, administrators and students) in order to facilitate their teaching, research and administrative activities.

About the project

The ICTP project is to work to activate information technology, and to raise the efficiency of the educational process through the use of that information in communication between the educational institution, students and faculty members. This project also provides an opportunity for colleges to obtain distinguished services in information technology through the establishment of an information technology unit.

Project goals

Completing and supporting the college’s IT and systems infrastructure.

Emphasis on the availability of computers in all offices of faculty members and the supporting body.

Emphasis on the availability of computers in all administrative offices of the college.

Providing computers in classrooms.

Providing central printing, scanning and photocopying machines.

Develop a mechanism for its use and training on how to use it correctly.

Connecting all the college computers together with an internal network and linking them to the international information network, the Internet.

Completing the installation of data show display devices in all halls, auditoriums and study laboratories.

Establishing a mechanism to complete periodic and emergency maintenance for all displayces, computers, printers, scanners and networking mechanisms at the college.
