Translation Program – Faculty of Arts – Sohag University
The Translation Program (English Language) is a department of the College of Arts in which the student studies oral and written translation, between Arabic and English, during four academic years, which the student obtains a bachelor’s degree in translation between Arabic and English.
About the program:
This program provides an opportunity for learners to advance in the field of translation from and into English at the academic and professional levels, enabling them to play an effective role in various fields, including media, literature, economics, law, and scientific, institutional and research needs.
The translation program at Sohag University aspires to benefit from the great progress made in translation studies and technology, and to invest this progress to formulate an educational and training plan, aimed at enabling learners to complete translation operations ,which is consistent with development projects The program also contributes to preparing qualified and trained cadres to transfer science, skills and ideas, and benefit from them in ways that fit local requirements.
The labor market needs qualified translators with a great deal of linguistic culture in their mother tongue and the foreign language they study, it was taken into account that the study plan includes the study of the Arabic language, that includes its grammar, morphology, and literature which is reflected in the student’s linguistic performance, and makes him able to face the difficulties in the translation process.
The plan focused on the various types and styles of translation. It focused also on the terminology related to each field of translation, which gives the student the ability to become familiar with it and develop it.
